Ken and Cynthia enjoy educating on the Viking Age! We partner with organizations to preserve, share and celebrate Nordic culture through please-touch demonstrations and education including lectures, classes, and hands on instruction in daily life and crafts of the Vikings.

International Congress on Medieval Studies
2025 May 8 – 10
Ken and Cynthia shared their Hands-On Museum at the International Congress on Medieval Studies, to bring aspects of viking daily life to life! We share displays of bone and horn working tools, jewelry, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age. New to Nordik Xperience was a miniature experiment examining barley grinding in a quern or millstone. This interactive display was in support of the Congress's Sixtieth Anniversary!
2025 March 22-23 & 29-30
Ken and Cynthia brought the Hands-On Museum to TVEF to show Festival goers aspects of viking daily living, with displays of bone and horn working tools, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age. Cynthia taught her Lucet Workshop each day of the Festival.
2023 December 16-18
Ken and Cynthia partnered with the Fernbank Museum in Atlanta GA to bring aspects of viking daily life to life. Our Hands-On Museum contains displays of bone and horn working tools, jewelry, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age. We assisted with the Winter break camp, by talking about viking tools with the participating kids. This demonstration was in support of their Vikings: Warriors of the Sea exhibit.

2023 November 4-5
Ken and Cynthia demonstrated with The Society of Amateur Vikings for General Reenactment (SAVGR). While they demonstrated cooking, we had other aspects of viking daily life, with our Hands-On Museum. It contains displays of bone and horn working tools, jewelry, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age.
Cynthia taught a Lucet Workshop and lectured on Fibers in Daily Life.

2011 December 18
Ken displayed over 50 artifacts that he reproduced, from the Viking age, while discussing the Viking Age in conjunction with the Anglo-Saxon Hoard: Gold from England’s Dark Ages. Cynthia demonstrated lucet cording and showed how the cording could be used during the Viking Age.

Northwest Viking Market October 12 & 13, 2024 - We brought our Hands-On Museum to the Market, all the way in Oregon!
Pennsic War July 29 to August 8 2024 - Ken taught SEVEN classes! Three two hour classes on bone carving; two two hour classes on horn; and two two hour classes on chip carving (wood). Good thing he brought plenty of extra handouts and supplies! All of his classes were PACKED! Cynthia taught a Teen class on nickel flowers and vines twice, an illumination technique that is simple and fun! Each class was full with both teens and adults. She also was able to volunteer at Youth Point (activities) twice! Cynthia and Ken also both volunteered to face paint at the Children's Fete.
Century Village Viking Festival 4 & 5 May 2024 - We brought our Hands-On Museum, Cynthia lectured on "Fibers to Finery", and Ken lectured on "Viking 101"
The Viking Experience 23 & 24 March 2024 - We brought our Hand-On Museum and Cynthia lectured twice.
Home School Students - Ages 2 to 12 - 6 March 2024 - We brought our Hands-On Museum and taught in two separate classrooms and then had students swap!
Cynthia lectured on Fiber in the Viking Age.
Ken and Cynthia both taught classes. Ken taught his Bone Carving class. Cynthia taught her Lucet Cord Workshop.
