Where we've Taught

Ken and Cynthia enjoy educating on the Viking Age! We partner with organizations to preserve, share and celebrate Nordic culture through please-touch demonstrations and education including lectures, classes, and hands on instruction in daily life and crafts of the Vikings.

Below please find some of our significant educational experiences. Between us, we've taught over a hundred classes.

Fernbank Museum

2023 December 16-18

Ken and Cynthia partnered with the Fernbank Museum in Atlanta GA to bring  aspects of viking daily life to life, with displays of bone and horn working tools, jewelry, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age. We assisted with the Winter break camp, by talking about viking tools with the participating kids. This demonstration was in support of their Vikings: Warriors of the Sea exhibit.

VikingsCon

2023 November 4-5

Ken and Cynthia demonstrated with The Society of Amateur Vikings for General Reenactment (SAVGR). While they demonstrated cooking, we had other aspects of viking daily life, with displays of bone and horn working tools, jewelry, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age.

Cynthia taught a lucet workshop and lectured on Fibers in Daily Life.

Carnegie Science Center

2023 August 11

Ken and Cynthia shared information on viking daily living, with displays of bone and horn working tools, jewelry, games, musical instruments, clothing, and fiber items similar to those used in the Viking Age, complementing the artifacts displayed inside the Vikings, Warriors of the North exhibit.

National Geographic Museum, Washington DC

2011 December 18

Ken displayed over 50 artifacts that he reproduced, from the Viking age, while discussing the Viking Age in conjunction with the Anglo-Saxon Hoard: Gold from England’s Dark Ages. Cynthia demonstrated lucet cording and showed how the cording could be used during the Viking Age.
